If there's any seriously talented young skaters out there for you to keep your eye on, it's definitely got to be Starr Andrews! After starting skating at the tender age of 3, she is now a young teen, and nine years of skating has paid off as you can see in her figure skating routines. Even through her mother's medical issues, where consistent training was hard due to medical finances, she didn't give up her dream and has taken part in competitions since, including qualifying for nationals!
One of her most memorable and popular routines is her artistic performance to Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair", when she was only 9. While it was a one off spunky routine to her usual graceful and classical skating, it has been readily appreciated to show both skaters and non-skaters alike that classical music isn't the only music you can skate to!
This girl has some serious moves, and the routine is so full of life, and expresses her personality perfectly. If you want to see more of Starr then take a look around her channel, or learn more about her at her website. Look out for her sister Skylar, a talented gymnast who's sure to achieve stardom like her sister.
Meanwhile in my skating, I'm steadily getting better at both loop jump and flip, but I'm still struggling with the arabesque camel spin. However, not all is bad as I'm starting to get more rotations on my camel spin, as pre-Sunday I could only do about 1½ rotations but now if I'm lucky, I can get around 2½, which doesn't sound a lot but it's an improvement in my case, and I'm happy about it! I also went down into box-splits lower than I have done before... probably because of the fact I tried to stretch down into one while skating before slipping! Oops!!
Stay skating!
